From the racetrack to the lab: 7 researchers, €20,700, a model that works
Strongers Social Club ETS was founded in 2023 in Rome. We turn marathons, triathlons and charity events into concrete mini-grants for under-40 young oncologists working on lung cancer. No buzzwords: only public calls, independent Scientific Committee, RUNTS-filed financials.

Who we are
Athletes, doctors and volunteers. No bureaucracy: a lean Board and an external Scientific Committee that evaluates on public criteria, with no conflicts of interest.

Who we work with
Policlinico Gemelli IRCCS, Humanitas, AOU Parma, AOU Pisana, S.Andrea Rome, UNISA. The 7 funded researchers come from where lung cancer research is most advanced in Italy.

How we got here
- 2023
Club foundation (April). RUNTS registration (30/10/2023, Rep. 122206). First charity Padel Tournament: €7,683 gross raised.
- 2024
First Strongers For Research call: 3 mini-grants of €2,900 to Giulia Mazzaschi (AOU Parma, DUAL-IT), Mirella Moro (S.Andrea Rome, Time Toxicity), Marco Filetti (Gemelli Rome, cfDNA). Formal Scientific Committee establishment.

2024 Awards in Rome (8 February): the 3 winners of the 2024 call are honoured. Launch of the second Strongers For Research call.
- 2026
2025 Awards in Rome (28 March): the 4 winners of the 2025 call are honoured — Marchi (IMPEREAL), Masini (AI-Imaging), Polcaro (Immuno-SAFE), Lo Bianco (TrialBridge), €3,000 each. Cumulative total: 7 researchers funded, €20,700 disbursed to lung cancer research.
Transparency: not a promise, an obligation
We are registered with the RUNTS (Rep. 122206). We publish annual signed financials, statute, call criteria and Scientific Committee composition. The Committee is external: no member is a Strongers associate, no one has conflicts of interest with candidates.

The Board that signs the financial statements and is accountable for management — names and roles, with the same transparency as our Scientific Committee.

Independent Scientific Committee
The Scientific Committee evaluates the Strongers For Research call with public criteria and independence from the Board. Members are not Strongers members and have no conflicts of interest with candidates.
