The Run4Rome relay teams don’t just run the 42 km of Rome: they run and raise funds for lung cancer research. A friendly challenge between teams, where every kilometre counts twice.
In 2026 we were already on the course
We’re not starting from scratch: at the last Rome Marathon the Strongers teams were already there. This is where we want to build something bigger.
You run
Four athletes, one relay, the 42 km of the Rome Marathon. You split the distance and cross the finish line together.
You raise
Each team raises donations in support of lung cancer research. You don’t run only for yourself: you run for a cause.
You take on the challenge
A friendly challenge between the teams in the race: same finish line, same cause, the spirit of those who play for something bigger.
The marathon is the perfect metaphor for the fight against cancer: endurance, effort, a finish line that at first feels impossibly far. And no one crosses it alone.

One flat fee for every relay. Those who adopt their Marathon don’t pay less: they get more.

The most solidarity-driven weekend of the year — Rome, 11–14 March 2027
From Thursday 11 to Sunday 14 March 2027, Rome becomes the world capital of running. Run Rome The Marathon is the world's seventh marathon by prestige (Brand Finance 2026), Europe's leading marathon, and since 2026 a member of the European Marathon Classics — the circuit uniting the nine most important European marathons. In 2026 it sold out at 36,000 runners, four months before race day, with more than 60,000 participants across all weekend events.
Strongers Social Club ETS is an official charity partner: run with us — with a Strongers charity bib or kit — and turn every step into a mini-grant for lung cancer research.
Weekend programme
- Thursday 11 March: Expo Village opening
- Saturday 13 March: 5 km Fun Run — non-competitive run/walk through the heart of Rome, open to everyone, families and dogs welcome. Festival finale at Circus Maximus.
- Sunday 14 March: 42 km Marathon + Run4Rome Relay — competitive race for athletes and charity relay teams
Why run with Strongers
Strongers Social Club ETS funds €3,000 mini-grants for young Italian oncology researchers under 40 studying lung cancer. Registration proceeds go directly to the next Strongers for Research grant round. In the 2025 and 2026 rounds, 7 researchers were awarded, totalling more than €20,000 directed to scientific research.
When you sign up with us you don't just buy a bib: you join an international, intergenerational community that has brought hundreds of charity runners to Rome since 2021. Run in Strongers kit, get support with registration and logistics, and put a real face to research.
