Strongers in the Rome Marathon Charity Program

On Sunday 17 March 2024, at the 29th Acea Run Rome The Marathon, Strongers ran for the first time as a charity of the Charity Program: start on Via dei Fori Imperiali and 42.195 km past the monuments of the city.

17 athletes raced in the Strongers shirt: Raffaele Giusti ran the whole marathon, the other sixteen split into four relay teams, one leg each.

Every kilometre went to raising funds for lung cancer research. For Strongers it was also the first large-scale organisational test: bibs, shirts and teams balanced on each runner's times.

The race

What a character, the marathoner

Running the relay was a privilege: without facing 42 km, we ran alongside the marathoners and saw their determination up close. A marathon takes training, but above all the mental strength to push through fatigue.

Athletes of all ages, from all over the world, dressed in every possible way: a young man dressed as Dragon Ball, some in flip-flops instead of running shoes, one marathoner in jacket, tie and bowler hat.

Sport and health

Stand 49 at the Circus Maximus

While the relay was running, Strongers volunteers were at stand 49 in the Circus Maximus, where the 5 km fun run finished: a sport and health quiz for adults, a tin-can game for children, and a Strongers bag for everyone who passed the test.

The quiz answers became a small survey on how closely sport and health go together: Strongers promotes sport as a healthy habit, together with a healthy diet.

Thanks to the stand volunteers: Francesca, Alessia, Eleonora, Leonardo, Giorgia, Riccardo and Marina.
