Rome Marathon 2025
16 March 2025, the record-breaking 30th Rome Marathon: over 28,000 runners and the largest international turnout ever. Strongers was there with 20 teams, turning the run through the Capital into lung cancer research.
From all over Europe to run with Strongers
A record-breaking edition that lit up the streets of the Capital: the 30th Rome Marathon had over 28,000 runners in the marathon, more than 12,000 in Saturday's Fun Run and the largest international turnout ever.
For Strongers it was an incredible success too: 20 relay teams, 80 athletes from Belgium, Spain, Germany, France and all over Italy, from Naples, Rome and the Marche. Of all ages, from 13 in the Fun Race to over 67: running really is a sport for everyone.

Every step, a concrete gesture for research
We ran Run Rome The Marathon 2025 together to turn every step into a concrete gesture for scientific research. In 2024, thanks to the generosity of many, we had funded 3 research grants of €2,900 for young oncologists fighting lung cancer.
For 2025 we had set a more ambitious goal: award 4 young researchers €3,000 each, for projects on diagnosis, treatment and prevention. We did it: on 28 March 2026 the 4 winners of the Strongers for Research 2025 call received their awards, €12,000 for lung cancer research.
Meet the awarded researchers →Sport brings people together
For two years Strongers Social Club has been part of the Rome Marathon Charity Program: an international event where sport becomes a powerful tool for solidarity. Our presence promotes the values of sport and raises funds for lung cancer research.
Scientific research
The Rome Marathon is a great showcase for fundraising: the 2025 project funded 4 grants for young talents fighting lung cancer, on diagnosis, treatment and prevention.
Learning
Much more than a race: an experience in the heart of a historic city, between logistical challenges and security measures. Every year we learn how such a complex event is organised and grow in organisation and networking.
Mission
Being in the Charity Program gives us exclusive access to relay bibs: this way we raise funds in a targeted way and direct them straight to scientific research projects.
Community
As a non-profit we meet extraordinary runners, each with their own story, and work with other organisations committed to important causes. That is how every participant becomes a "Strongers", a supporter of research.
30 seconds ALL OUT!
Could our stand go without a sporting challenge? Definitely not. The rule is simple: a 30-second countdown, when you are ready you go and pedal as hard as you can.
Here is Luca's record. Thanks to our friends at Indoor Rowing srl, who provided the Concept2 BikeErg.
Cactus the superhero!
Anyone who walked through the Circus Maximus village could not miss our superhero Cactus: wandering among the stands, dancing under the stage, hugging young and grown-up runners, families and visitors, and celebrating with the other mascots.
He won the hearts of all the children, who absolutely wanted a photo, a hug, a wave, a high five. We are proud of this success: it will be hard to forget us!
